About Wade Gease

Wade Gease

Wade Gease is an AOBA Certified Alpaca Judge and Judge Trainer. For the past seven years he has judged shows throughout the United States and Canada. He is one of the few alpaca judge trainers in all areas of halter, fleece and performance. Wade is also a certified Camelid Fibre Sorter from Olds College Natural Fibre Centre, Canada. Presently he serves as a board director for both the Alpaca Fiber Coop of North America & the Great Lakes Alpaca Association. He has been co-owner of LondonDairy Alpacas and Alpaca Threads gift store since 1997. Wade has been honored to be so involved with many different activities in the alpaca world: speaking for educational events, consulting for auctions, evaluating for private alpaca breeders and organizing private trips to Peru.

Wade has worked to produce one of the nations’ first blends of Alpaca & Bamboo fabrics. This has led to developments into the fashion industry and now being a broker for bamboo, tensel and silks.

In his past he has been a certified flight instructor, chemistry instructor, co-owner of a retail gift store and has worked for pharmaceutical companies. Wade has earned an Associate’s Degree in Aeronautical Science, a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry & a Masters Degree in Biochemistry.

Wade likes to bring a personal teaching perspective to his judging because of his past passion of showing and professional educating. As a judge, Wade enjoys giving breeders informative feedback through his halter class oral reasons and all other speaking engagements.

PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

Mr. Gease was born and raised in Wisconsin. He attended Gateway Technical College, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Mr. Gease was a certified pilot at age 17. He became a flight instructor for many years while attending a state university for further Science degrees. Furthermore, he earned a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and continued to achieve a Masters of Science in Bio-Chemistry.

Mr. Gease worked for several pharmaceutical companies as a representative for hypertensive, cardiology, esophageal reflux disease, COPD, lipid management and anti-inflammatory medications.

Mr. Gease co-owned a floral & gift shop for high end interior décor and floral designs for 8 years co managing 8-12 employees. At the same time he worked full time in his pharmaceutical profession and managed his growing alpaca herd.

Mr. Gease has made 8 trips to South America experiencing Peru and Bolivia. Purposes were for buying goods for his store, visiting remote alpaca ranches, interviewing processors, organizing and guiding tours in Peru/Bolivia for alpaca breeders and collecting information related to alpacas for clinics and articles.

Mr. Gease has been a speaker in well over 100 presentations, all in relation to the alpaca industry. He has performed herd evaluations for the past seven years. And he has been selected as a Judge in over 90 alpaca shows throughout the United States and Canada.

Mr. Gease started Alpaca Threads gift store. An online and ranch retail store populated with clothing products designed by Mr. Gease.

Over the last 9 years, Mr. Gease has conducted seminars and lectures throughout the Nation and into Canada.

ALPACA CONSULTING ACTIVITIES

Mr. Gease has been retained by many of the highest regarded farms in the alpaca industry for professional services including Snowmass, Double O Good, Maple Brook and Alpacas of Misty Ridge Farms. All farms have alpacas that have had sales or purchases with values over of $100,000 with Mr. Gease’s aid. Mr. Gease has been asked to assistance in divorce, separation, death and contract disagreements.

ALPACA JUDGING ACTIVITIES

Mr. Gease has been a judge at many of the major alpaca shows including AOBA Nationals (3), MAPACA (2) Alpaca Western Extravaganza, Kentucky Classic, MOPACA (2), TxOLAN, Alpacapalooza (2), NorthWest Alpaca Showcase, Indiana Alpaca Invitational, ABR Fall Festival and AFCNA Continental Fleece Show (4). Highest honors go toward Judging the AOBA National show (2008-2010) and the Canadian Futurity show (2010).
