About Us

galileo2.jpgLondonDairy Alpacas live in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. We are approximately 8 miles East of I-43 just North of Manitowoc, Wisconsin on HWY 147. If you look at a map of Wisconsin's Lake Michigan coast line you will notice a jut about two thirds the way up. This is where Two Rivers is located. The city got it's name from two rivers that connect in this area. We are 30 miles south of Green Bay or 100 miles (1 hr. 25 min.) north of Milwaukee.

The LondonDairy Alpacas reside on a family farm that dates back to the 19th century. In 1877 Kevin's great grand father Joe purchased this farm that was bordered by the East Twin River. At that time the farm's livestock species included chickens turkeys, pigs and dairy cows. Kevin's grand father, Walter was the youngest of thirteen children. At a young age, Walter was given control of the farm because of the untimely death of Joe. The farm continued to grow in acreage with additional farms purchased on the West Twin River. Walter and his wife, Viola, needed more income so a bottling plant was added to market the families milk products. They delivered processed milk in a horse drawn wagon to customers in the area. In order to keep up with the growing demand for bottled milk, more dairy cattle were added to the dairy herd. At its peak the farm cared for over 200 cattle and 250 chickens.

galileo3.jpgIn 1996 the bottling plant closed, one half the cattle were sold and all but 3 chickens received new homes. Alpaca fever struck in 1996 with the purchase of four alpacas. The equipment was sold from the bottling facility and now this building is converted to our on the farm gift store, Alpaca Threads & Fiber Studio. The family farm is still in minor operations. The alternative livestock on the century farm is now definately alpacas!

Kevin has a degree in Agricultural Education with an emphasis in Animal Science. He has taught and trained judging teams for all species of livestock. He presently is a department chair person for a high school guidance office in downtown Green Bay.

Wade became interested in alpacas in 1997 after seeing his first cria. He has been personally motivated to find new marketing venues for the alpaca industry. He has earned an MS in Chemistry and has a selling background in pharmaceuticals. Wade is the first and only AOBA Certified Alpaca Judge from the state of Wisconsin and is hired internationally for certified alpaca shows, farm consults and speaking engagements.
